This is my second lease at Maxwell, and it's the perfect location if you're looking for the downtown experience. Highly recommend Also-the apartments themselves are gorgeous, with updated finishes to reflect modern taste. FOB card for the front door is also your apartment key-super convenient and hassle free

|Recommended: NoNo recycle — The trash area doesn’t have recycling and when you point that out to the manager they punt the blame. This has been going on since we moved in.
|Recommended: YesGreat Place to Live — I moved to Des Moines from out of town and Maxwell instantly became home The Maxwell employees security, maintenance crew, and leasing office staff are all incredibly friendly and helpful. The apartment itself was in tiptop shape and clean when I moved in and the common areas are always pristine I absolutely love living at Maxwell. The only thing missing is a work out room
|Recommended: YesOverall nice — There is some construction occurring on the fifth floor, so the patio is dirty with debris that the workers have thrown over. Some residents allow their pets to use the patio as a bathroom, when they should be taking them on walks. The maintenance staff works quickly, and other than the security guard, the staff is very nice. They are professional and prompt, but there are things that need attention. For instance, the trash should be picked up twice a week given the amount of overflowing trash that is present. The community room, although not allowed to have alcohol, had a huge party in it last night. Despite some of these negatives, I do feel safe here. My car is parked in the safe, warm garage. I feel as though no one would bother me here, or hurt me. I love that my unit has an in-unit washer and dryer, as well as a dishwasher. Katie, the property manager, is always nice and helpful. So is Doug, the maintenance man. I would recommend that people come check it out, it's in a great area.
|Recommended: YesA downtown must — I have lived at Maxwell since March 2019, and am a raving fan. The location couldn't be better You're a quick walk to literally everything, connected to the sky-walk system, and have some of the nicest apartment finishes in the area. Katie, the current property manager, always handles concerns with grace and tact in a timely manner. Doug, the maintenance guy, is seasoned in the field and is happy to help residents any way he can. Perks to the property online maintenance requests, online rent payments, interactive resident events, and a first class resident community room that is rentable. The rooftop courtyard is also a nice urban escape. The electronic FOB entry is a great touch for downtown living. There are unlimited food options in every direction. One of the best Mexican-American restaurants is right across the street If the nearby dining options weren't enough, the benefit of being able to walk to the grocery store via the sky-walk in the cold Iowa winter should be. Parking is limited in the garage, but once you secure your space you're good to go. Also-this was one of the most pet friendly communities in downtown. My cats transitioned seamlessly from their Seattle apartment in no time. We're very happy to live well at Maxwell, and highly recommend it to anyone looking for the downtown DSM experience.
